Neutron Flux Monitors (NFMs)

The Neutron Flux Monitors (NFMs) diagnostics measure the total neutron emission from the plasma, providing the evaluation of the fusion power.

System specifications for the NFM:

- Total neutron flux range: ~ 5 *10 16 up to ~ 7.5*10 20 n/s;

- Time resolution: 1 ms;

- Thermal neutron Absorber: material to be confirmed at PDR level;

- Casing: Stainless steel;

Equatorial Port 12 Port Integration (PI)

The equatorial port 12 is a key part used for the installation of the diagnostic system/instruments to observe and measure the plasma parameters. Port Integration is applied to three assemblies: the Port Plug assembly, the Interspace assembly and the Port cell assembly. This activity deals with integration from the Diagnostic First Wall DFW to the Port Cell door. The PI task mainly contains integration from the Diagnostic First Wall DFW to the Port Cell door:

This diagnostics to be integrated into EP#12:

1. The Equatorial Port Visible/ IR Wide Angle Viewing System (EPWAV) (PBS no. 55.G1) being provided by the EU-DA, located in DSM1.

2. The H-alpha and visible spectroscopy (PBS no. 55.E2) being provided by the RF-DA, located in DSM1.

3. The Radial X-Ray diagnostic (PBS no. 55.E7) being provided by the CN-DA, located in DSM2.

4. The Hard X-Ray Monitor (PBS no. 55.EE) being provided by the EU-DA, located in DSM2.

5. The Collective Thomson Scattering (CTS) diagnostic (PBS no. 55.C7) being provided by the EU-DA, located in DSM3.

There is a non-diagnostic Glow Discharge Cleaning (GDC) system (PBS no. 18.GC) being provided by the CN-DA, located in DSM2.

Radial X Ray Camera

The Radial X Ray Camera is used for Research and observation of MHD phenomenon, X-ray emission from ITER, at about 50 MW, is second only to neutron emission in the power balance. The primary role of the diagnostic is to make measurements of the x-ray emission over the full poloidal profile.

The diagnostic is composed of two distinct subsystems: external camera and internal camera. The combination of these two components is to provide views of x-ray emission from the plasma out to the last closed flux surface. This arrangement provides the highest level of radiation shielding for the external system which views the core of the plasma.

Divertor Langmuir probe

ITER divertor Langmuir probes are important diagnostic on the divertor, working at harsh thermal nuclear reaction conditions with the highest thermal flux density. It can measure the plasma temperature, density and ion circulation near the target board.
